The Guild of International Songwriters and Composers (GISC) is an international organisation based in England in the United Kingdom. Guild members are songwriters, composers, lyricists, poets, performing songwriters, musicians, publishers, studio owners, independent record company/phonographic rights owners, music industry personnel, etc, from many countries throughout the world.

The Guild has published Songwriting and Composing magazine since 1986, which is issued free to Guild members. The Guild of International Songwriters and Composers offers advice, guidance, protection, information, encouragement and services to Guild members with regard to helping members try to achieve their aims, ambitions, progression and advancement in respect to the many different aspects of the music industry.

Free information, advice and services, such as the Guild’s Copyright Service - Song and Instrumental Assessment Service - Collaboration Service – Advice, Consultancy, Information and Contact Service – Contract Vetting and Advice – Legal Contact Service and more are available to Guild members throughout their membership on music industry related matters.

The Guild’s aim is to assist and help its members to gain knowledge of the music industry and to help maintain the rights of Guild members – new, amateur, semi-professional and professional songwriters, composers, lyricists, poets, performing songwriters, musicians, home/semi-pro/professional studio owners, independent record company/phonographic rights owners, music industry personnel, etc, working within the music industry, especially with the marketing and placement of Guild members’ songs, instrumental themes, performances and copyright material, thus trying to assist Guild members to achieve commercial success and financial reward.

Members of The Guild of International Songwriters and Composers have access to the Guild’s affiliated publishing company, which is a member of The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) (London, England) and The Performing Right Society (PRS) (London, England). Publishing can be given to those Guild members who are contemplating their own record release, to those Guild members who are having their works broadcast on radio and television, and to those Guild members whose songs/instrumental themes are deemed to be suitable for the publishing company’s various catalogues. All songs sent by Guild members to the Guild’s Assessment Department are automatically heard by an A&R executive. Any songwriter member whose songs are considered to be suitable and commercially viable for the publishing company’s requirements will be contacted with regard to the publishing of their works.
